I use the serrated dressing forceps as a sewing aid (for fabrics, not people). They are far superior to the purpose built tweezers sold at fabric stores. I use them to thread my serger. Cynamed also makes a version of these with straight tips which I use for threading needles, picking out thread when using a seam ripper, and tugging out the occasional rats nest from a sewing machine stitch plate.I find that I have to tweak each tip slightly with a pair of pliers as these work best when the serrated tips are perfectly parallel. Do be careful as the stiff tips can fracture. Such is the tradeoff between nice stiff, presumably hardened instruments and cheaper but less fracture prone tweezers which cannot maintain a firm grip.They are stamped "German Stainless" which doesn't really mean anything. They are ferromagnetic, as are many varieties of stainless steel. This is a desirable quality for me as I frequently drop things (pins, needles, these forceps) on the floor and can pick them up with a telescoping magnet.
